 Plumed Serpent Bridal Store

Anne BargeElizabeth FillmoreMonique Lhuillier. Romona Keveza.  These are just a few of the luxurious designers you’ll find at The Plumed Serpent in Westport, Connecticut.   The Plumed Serpent is a bridal salon that caters to the fashionable bride, without being stuff.  With a major remodel completed last year, you, your mother, your sister, and your friends can all try on bridal gowns in comfort.

A little Q&A with Alison Fisher, owner of The Plumed Serpent

1.What drew you into bridal fashion / what drove you to open Plumed Serpent?
I had always loved working in fashion.  But I wanted to build and develop “relationships” with my clients.  Being able to be a part of some one’s wedding planning and a big part of their wedding day is a wonderful privilege.  It is so rewarding.  Clients have always sent me wedding pictures – but now I’m getting birth announcements and baby pictures.  It’s great!

2.  What was your favorite designer at Bridal Market this year?
Monique Lhuillier, as always, looked amazing.   Every season she just outdoes herself.  Just when you think she has reached the pinnacle of her success – she comes out with another breathtaking collection.

3.  Any new additions this year?
I’m really excited that we added Elizabeth Fillmore to the store.  Her dresses are such a different aesthetic from the other designers we currently have.  Very modern, very fashion forward and just total eye candy.

4.  What’s your #1 piece of advice for girls starting to look for their dresses?
Bring an open mind.  I always tell my clients – don’t talk yourself into a dress because it is exactly what you thought you wanted, and don’t talk yourself out of a dress you love because it is so different than what you thought.  If it makes you smile and feel good – you have found your dress!

5.  Any funny story(ies) that stick in your mind from a mishap or dress disaster?
Luckily there have been no major dress disasters – but I do put out lots of fires.  I always love when a bride’s dress has arrived and she comes into the store to try it on for the first time.  90% of them are so worried that they won’t love it anymore.    Of course they always do – but the look in their eyes when they walk into the store is priceless!
