In recent years we’ve seen custom aisle runners with the bride and groom’s monogram, but I recently came across a new twist on the aisle runner, from Faux Paw Furs.  Faux Paw Furs created home decor items, but they’re now introducing faux fur aisle runners for wedding ceremonies, which come 36″ wide as their standard cut, but can be as wide as 56″.

Imagine how luxurious it would be walking down the aisle on white channeled faux mink fur?  It would look absolutely spectacular, particularly for a winter wedding.  We can’t wait to use these for one of our brides.    Aisle runners are 36″ wide, but can be made as wide as 56″, depending on how wide your aisle is.

When create or design a client’s wedding, most of the time we talk our brides are thinking about flowers, but I absolutely love using curly willow.  More brides seem to be using curly willow, or another branch-type.  It just adds so much texture and is a great addition to your reception centerpieces or wedding ceremony elements.

Since curly willow is a long, leafless branch, no two branches are alike.  It is available year-round, so you will not be limited by the time of year you’re having your wedding.  The curly willow generally comes in a natural brown or black color, but you might be able to find slight color variations, depending on the maturity of the branch.  I’ve also seen our fabulous wedding florists spray paint the branches for brides if the design calls for a shade we can’t get, or a color that just adds more pop.

We are huge fans of candlelight here at Fresh LiME Events.  There’s just something so beautiful and natural about the flickering of a candle that we can’t pass up.  Candles are a great way to add soft light to a room, a little romance.  We also love using that candlelight outside.   Hanging lanterns are a great way to bring candles to outside spaces.  Using them around the perimeter of your wedding venue can really create a little drama, even if guests aren’t spending a lot of time outside.  If you have a reception room that has windows, line the room outside with large lanterns that hand from wrought iron hooks.  The glow from inside will look really amazing, and will also say to guests that you didn’t forget about the entire look and feel of the wedding – including outside.

Here are a couple of other ways to use these hanging lanterns;

• Line your wedding ceremony aisle, especially if you’re having a ceremony at dusk
• Hang them from large trees around the property of your wedding venue
• If you’re having a tented wedding, create a pathway to the restrooms for guests to easily follow
• Hang them from the inside of your tent instead of using the paper lanterns
• Line the driveway of the venue, so guests have a warm feeling as they drive off for the night

English Roses, aka David Austin roses, were created when David Austin started experimenting by crossing the tea rose with the floribundas rose to get a different look, and I’m so glad that he did.  I love the English Rose.  The look of an English Rose is different from your typical rose.  First of all, it’s much bigger and has many more petals.  The English Rose tends to be a little flatter and definitely wider than the roses you’re used to seeing.  And because you can find the English Rose in all sorts of varieties and colors, you’ll have plenty of options to choose from.

One of the reasons why I love the English Rose so much is because I love peonies.  I know it sounds funny, but the English Rose is a great alternative to the peony, or to use in combination with the peony.  Many brides really want to use the peony in their bridal bouquets or in the centerpieces for their wedding reception, but can’t because peonies are only available for a short window of time.  So if you’re having a summer or fall wedding and really want that look, think about using the English Rose in its place.  You’ll still get the same look and feel for your wedding flowers as you would with a peony, but instead you’ll just have English Roses.  We’re currently doing just this for a bride of ours who’s getting married in mid-August.

Also known as the brain flower, for obvious reasons, the Celosia flower is very interesting with bold color and texture.  By using the Celosia in your wedding flowers, whether that be the bride’s bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets, centerpieces, or as the boutonniere for groomsmen, the Celosia will definitely add some drama to your wedding decor.

While not necessarily as large as a hydrangea, Celosia still has mass and is a great option to use in your centerpieces for your wedding reception, as they’ll take up a little more space, and you might get away having to use less flowers, depending on the size of your centerpieces and costs.  Check out the use of the green Celosia in these gorgeous centerpieces as found on Style Me Pretty.

Today’s Wedding Flowers post is a little different.  We won’t talk availability today.  That’ll come next week.  But we just couldn’t resist sharing this stunning “black” calla lilies that one very luck lady (that’s me) received over the weekend from her husband.

We used these black calla lilies against lime green cymbidium orchids at our wedding, so it was extra sweet that he remembered.

Did others receive beautiful flowers for V-Day?  Other than roses?  Do tell!

Much like the peony, the Ranunculus is one of our favorite wedding flowers for brides and grooms.  Ranunculus are fabulous for your bridal bouquet, bridesmaids bouquets, centerpieces, or anywhere else you want to see them on your wedding day.  With all of their layers and layers of petals, the ranunculus is a great option to add a little luxury to your wedding.

Seasonal Availability:  Typically a spring flower, but you may be able to find them over the winter months (December – May)

Color Availability:  White, Purple, Pink, Magenta, Red, Burgundy, Peach, Orange and Yellow

Meaning: Radiant charm, You are rich in attractions

Grown mostly in Australia, the Boronia flower is a small (less than an inch in length), cone-shaped flowers that grows on several shoots on one stem.  It’s not uncommon to have a hundred or more buds on one full stem.  Isn’t the Boronia so tiny and pretty?  Used mostly as filler in arrangements and bouquets, the Boronia is generally available in February and March.

Color Availability:  Pink and Magenta

Meaning: Silence, Hush

Peonies are so delicate and so incredibly stunning.  I love seeing them in brides’ bouquets as they walk down the aisle.  It’s just a shame that they’re only really available starting in April through parts of June.

Meaning: Healing, Happy life, Happy marriage, good health, prosperity

Sweetness.  Purity of heart.  You make my life complete.  Lily of the Valley not only has adorable meanings, but look at the beautiful bell-shape this flower has.  This type of flower is most often used as a filler in arrangements, centerpieces and bouquets, like the bouquet from The Bride’s Cafe, but I’m sure you can get creative and make this your cornerstone, like the image below from Martha Stewart.

The good news is that Lily of the Valley is available year-round, so trying to find them shouldn’t be difficult.  But, typically this flower usually only comes in white, but on a rare occasion, you might be able to find Lily of the Valley in pink.

This flower is a little more delicate, so be careful not to expose them to heat.  They can easily be stored in a shallow vase with some water.  If you want to be extra careful, wrap them in some wax tissue paper, leaving the top open for air to circulate, then drop them in some water.
